Villa Margarita
Villa Margarita is a renovated property close to the town of Chiclana de la Frontera on the Costa de la Luz (coast of light). Chiclana is an ideal base for bird watching, being almost midway between the wetlands of Doñana and the straits of Gibraltar. It is also conveniently located for visits to Cádiz, Jerez, Seville and Gibraltar.
The single storey, 3 bed roomed villa is surrounded by private gardens containing an 8m by 4m pool with Roman steps. It is situated in a semi-rural position on a drovers' track. A few minutes walk down this track brings you to open countryside where hoopoes and bee-eaters can be seen. The town of Chiclana is approximately 10 minutes by car. Local beaches are also a 10 minute drive.
This is a typically Spanish area, far removed from the high-rise resorts of the Mediterranean. Visit this area for a taste of the real Spain, where horses are used to herd cattle (and to visit friends or the local bar) and goats are driven to and from grazing each day. From the villa gates we often see the local farmer riding past on his horse, sometimes with a cow or two, and the local goatherd often greets us with a cheery "Buenos días" (pronounced "Buena día" in Chiclana).
Guest Book
"This villa is one of the best across Europe we've stayed in. It has everything a visiting group would need - is spacious, well furnished, including some beautiful original paintings of local scenes. The villa is ideally situated for trips to some of Spain's best beaches at Roche, El Palmar and Bolonia as well as trips to Seville, Vejer and Gibraltar. The owner's helpful advice and information on directions to the villa and ideas of things to do was a great benefit to us as we drew up our itinerary.
We would heartily recommend this villa to anyone considering a holiday in southern Spain - the real Spain! "
